Formal and Informal Speech

We have based our work on an activity from the book called Total English Intermediate Workbook.

Formal and Informal Sentence List:

First, students are given a list of random formal and informal sentences in order to get them to understand differences between both.

Students use CRAM in order to write down formal versions of informal sentences that they see in the list.

Then the students go to English Exercises and do the activities on phrasal verbs about formal - informal speech. After they are finished they go on to fill in the blanks.

Fill in the blanks exercises

Students must do this fill in the blanks exercises accordingly. Both of these examples are e-mail examples. One of them fits to formal and the other fits to informal speech types.

They must submit this exercise to Penzu, which is an online diary saving the writings of students.

Then students can use Spellcheck Plus to correct their wrong spelling.

Then the students can publish this exercise via Edublogs. They can also write their conclusions about the exercise and how they choose the right communication type.
